The US Navy was created by an act of Congress on October 13, 1775, which established a naval force to protect American interests at sea. It has since grown into one of the largest and most powerful navies in the world. This day is also a chance to recognize and thank all active duty personnel and veterans who have served or are currently serving in the US Navy.
