Join us in celebrating National Civility Month - let's come together to create a happier, more respectful world!
August marks National Civility Month, a time to celebrate and recognize the importance of civil behavior in our communities. This special month was first established by the International Institute for Civil Leadership in 2014 as a way to spread awareness about the need for good manners, respect, and consideration for others. From August 1st through the 31st we can all take part in this celebration by setting an example of civility and kindness wherever we go!
Take the time to actively listen to what others have to say without interruption or judgment. Validate their feelings and perspectives, and offer them a safe space to express themselves.
Complimenting someone is a great way of showing civility and respect. Give genuine compliments that make the other person feel appreciated.
Write thank you cards to people who have done something kind for you or to those who have helped you in some way. It's a great way of showing appreciation and gratitude.
Try to spread positivity, kindness, and respect as much as possible. You can do this by spreading positive messages on social media, being friendly with strangers, or just smiling at people.
Volunteer your time and services in your local community. Helping out those in need is a great way of showing civility and respect for others.
By treating others with courtesy, respect and kindness, we can create an environment where everyone is heard and understood. This encourages collaboration and open dialogue between people of different backgrounds and beliefs, leading to greater understanding and empathy.
When workers are able to communicate in a respectful manner, the entire office atmosphere becomes more productive. Employees feel appreciated and valued which leads to less conflict and fewer misunderstandings. Creating a positive work environment also makes staff members more likely to stay in their positions for longer periods of time.
Being civil is all about finding ways to disagree without being disagreeable. It allows us to have effective conversations with others even if we don’t see eye to eye. Proper communication skills help us express ourselves clearly, listen carefully and speak kindly so that we can understand each other better.
