Introduction

June is National Safety Month, and it's time to get serious about promoting safety in the home, workplace, and community. The observance was created by the National Safety Council (NSC) in 1996 to raise awareness about the importance of safety. This year's theme is "Safety at Home". From identifying potential hazards in your home to practicing safe driving habits while out on the road, there are many ways we can all make a difference when it comes to keeping ourselves and those around us safe. Let's make June a month that encourages everyone to take action and prioritize safety!

2

Create a safety plan

Sit down with your family and create a safety plan for your home, workplace, or community. Think about what steps you can take to be safe and make sure everyone knows what to do in case of an emergency.

Spread the word

Share safety tips with friends and family. Talk about how important it is to be safe and how we can all benefit from taking steps to protect ourselves.

Why National Safety Month is Important

A

It promotes awareness of safety issues

National Safety Month is important because it serves to remind the public that they should always be aware of their surroundings and potential risks. It provides a valuable opportunity to educate people on how to avoid accidents and injuries, as well as how to respond appropriately in emergency situations.

B

It encourages prevention

National Safety Month helps to make sure that everyone is following best practices when it comes to being safe. By promoting preventive measures such as wearing seatbelts, staying away from dangerous areas, and learning about common hazards like fire or slips & falls, we can all work towards creating a safer environment for ourselves and those around us.

C

It saves lives

By taking proactive steps to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of everyone involved in potentially hazardous situations, National Safety Month has proven itself time and time again to be an invaluable resource for saving both lives and resources. Keeping safety at the forefront of our minds can help reduce injury rates and foster a culture of safety in our communities.
