Introduction

Dive headfirst into summer by celebrating Nude Recreation Week beginning on July 8! This liberating week was first started in the 1970s by the American Association for Nude Recreation in a fun and cheery embrace of body positivity and the freeing nature of being unencumbered by clothing. Designed not only to encourage acceptance of our own bodies in their most natural state, but also to increase respect and appreciation for those of others, this week serves as a fabulous time to enjoy outdoor activities the way we came into this world – completely free and unadulterated. So take the plunge, and celebrate the simplicity of life sans textiles!

How to Celebrate Nude Recreation Week

1

Embrace Skinny Dipping

Taking a dip in a private pond, pool or secluded lake without a swimsuit is a liberating experience that fits perfectly with the spirit of Nude Recreation Week. Always remember to respect public decency laws and private properties.

2

Visit a Nudist Resort

There are numerous nudist resorts around the world that promote a body-positive and non-sexualized form of recreation. These welcoming environments are an excellent way to embrace and celebrate Nude Recreation Week.

3

Join a Nude Yoga Class

Nude yoga is becoming increasingly popular as it encourages participants to fully accept and appreciate their own bodies, as well as those of others. During Nude Recreation Week, sign up for a session or organize an event of your own.

4

Paint or Draw Nudes

Whether you're an experienced artist or a beginner, consider enrolling in a life drawing class with nude models or even attempting some nude self-portraits at home. It’s a thoughtful and creative way to celebrate your body’s natural form.

5

Participate in a Naked Bike Ride

Many places host nude bike rides in the spirit of non-sexualized nudity, civil liberties and body positivity. Participating in one of these events during Nude Recreation Week could be an exhilarating and fun experience. Again, ensure you follow all necessary local laws and regulations.
