Show your appreciation for the gentle giants of the animal kingdom this National Elephant Appreciation Day on Sept. 22! This day has been celebrated since 1996 to honor these majestic creatures and their vital role in our ecosystems. Elephants are some of nature’s most intelligent animals, capable of complex communication and even displaying emotions such as joy, grief, compassion, anger and love. They have a long history with humans; from being admired for their size and strength to being used in warfare by ancient civilizations.
